Steve is in Germany right now for business. His trip will keep us apart for 8 days, the longest we've ever been apart since we began seeing each other. I would have loved to have gone, but my ex-husband's second child with his current wife is arriving today and I couldn't saddle him with the transport of our three kids. Additionally, after having been off nearly a week last month during our Vegas trip, I'm not comfortable being away from work and essentially out of contact for that long.
Over the weekend, I was all by myself for the most part. It was nice to have some peace and quiet and spend some time doing the detail cleaning that I can never find the time for when everyone is clamoring for my attention and/or services. In addition to cleaning out the pantry and steaming grout joints, I watched all the TV I wanted, and never had to share the remote. I watched this scene from Stranger Than Fiction eight times.
Not only do I read books over and over again, I love to watch movies repeatedly. This drives my husband insane. Of course, he weeps like a little girl every single time he sees Saving Private Ryan, even though he's watched it a dozen or so times.
I ate Chipotle and My favorite mac and cheese, I didn't have to hide my Coke Zero, and I didn't have to got to bed at ten. Steve subscribes to that old bromide "early to bed, early to rise, while I occasionally like to burn the midnight oil and catch up on reading and trying to make a dent in my Netflix queue.
Ruh roh. After writing this post and noting my excessive carb intake over the weekend I got on the scale.
Up five pounds. I can't welcome my hubby back home with a new stomach roll.
